What Are Bliss Balls?

Bliss balls, sometimes called energy balls, are the perfect little snacks! They are satisfying, nutrient-dense bites with a good balance of fats, protein and complex carbs. They come in many varieties but the base is typically dates and nuts. I like to add pea protein and oats to mine to level up the nutrients and because I really like the consistency. They’re rolled into bite-sized spheres and often coated with toppings like shredded coconut, chopped nuts, or cacao powder. They’re loved for their versatility: you can make them chocolatey, fruity, nutty, or even a mix of all three. With no baking required, they’re quick and easy to prepare, making them a great addition to your snack rotation.

Why Are Bliss Balls So Popular?

Bliss balls have become a staple in modern snacking, and it’s not hard to see why:

  • Convenient: Their small size and portability make them perfect for busy days or quick bites between meals.
  • Customizable: With countless ingredient combinations, you can create a flavor profile that suits your preferences.
  • Versatile: Serve them as a snack, dessert, or even as part of a brunch spread.
  • Elegant: Despite being so simple to make, they look impressive and are perfect for entertaining.

How To Enjoy Bliss Balls

Bliss balls are as versatile in how you serve them as they are in how you make them.

  • As a Snack: Pack them in your bag for a mid-morning or afternoon energy boost.
  • On a Dessert Tray: Arrange them with fresh fruits for an elegant presentation.
  • As a Topping: Crumble them over yogurt or smoothie bowls for added texture and flavor.
  • As a Gift: Wrap them in a decorative box or jar for a thoughtful homemade present.

  • Transfer to the fridge and let them rest for at least 30 minutes. Enjoy!
  • Keep the ones you don't eat right away in a bag or container in the freezer. They have a very short thaw-time, so you can (almost) enjoy them right away!

Notes

If using chopped hazelnuts instead of soy crispies, roll the balls in them after you've covered them in chocolate.
